1. Get2gether
Everyone introduced themselves and told from which guild/club/organization they are coming from. This was a great idea and the implementation was also very good.
2. What is the international section and its meaning?
Aaro gave us all a nice, quick and concise presentation of the section and its meaning:
- International section will have a meeting six times this year, and the next section meeting will be most probably before Wappu
- The plan is to discuss all sorts of current international matters in the section meetings, for example why are people in certain study programs seemingly reluctant to go abroad as exchange students, whereas in some others it is highly popular. Also, it is important to find out, which guilds have a lot of international degree students as members and which don’t, and of course the reasons for this.
- Aaro told about the idea of Tandem language learning, which is a system where students can learn each other’s language through informal meetings.
- In the future, Aaro wants the section meetings to be a forum for conversations, not for "lectures" people come to hear.
3. TUT’s Internationalisation plan
- The TUT’s internationalisation plan was shortly introduced, we took a peek at it in the internet and the paper version was also available. It can be found in Tutka, but the English version is not yet ready.
- The main points for us students are how to make international tutoring better and how to make international degree students feel like home in our university (and in Finland, for that matter).
- Aaro is planning to prepare a summary of this plan, which highlights the points important for students and leaves out the less important matters.
4. The acting chairman
There were two candidates, Ingo Fröhling and Julien Gaubusseau, so the section voted.
Conclusion: Julien Gaubusseau was elected as the acting chairman for the international section.
5. Next meeting
The date and time for the next meeting will be announced later by Julien.
